COURSES

Officer-Involved Lethal Force Investigations

Dayton, Ohio - January 22-23, 2018

This course is designed for all law enforcement professionals including first responders, investigators, management, and policy makers.

There is no single event that can inflict trauma onto a police department more than an officer involved lethal force incident. The negative attention generated by the media, community activists and the general public can be tremendous. Civil judgments resulting from such cases can cripple a city and police department for years, having a negative effect on employee morale and erode public support for the city and department. It is therefore, necessary that every police department prepare for this inevitable event. It is also essential that the criminal investigator, supervisor and command personnel assigned to conduct and provide oversight to an officer involved shooting incident become equally prepared. This course provides an in-depth examination of lethal force incidents from the initial response to the final judgement. The course will provide the student with knowledge to handle these serious incidents through the investigatory process.
